MNLF Forces Attack Zamboanga City

     Yesterday, Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) fighters tried to invade Zamboanga City. The rebels took more than 20 civilian hostages and at least 6 people were killed. That was yesterday….today more than 200 civilians are now taken by the MNLF as hostages and are being used as human shields.

     Five alleged MNLF Commanders under the direct orders of MNLF Chairman Nur Misuari are on the offensive to seize Zamboanga City. Police and Military Forces are now all over the city to protect and defend the city from the rebels. The MNLF fighters are armed with M14s, M16s and RPGs (Rocket Propelled Grenades). A curfew has been implemented in the whole city, schools have been suspended, offices and business establishments have been forced to close due to the fighting.

    The whole city is now in chaos as sporadic firefights are erupting all over the area. The rebels have positioned themselves in homes of civilians to snipe at the military and police forces. The Government forces cannot easily flush the insurgents out due to the countless civilians that were being used as human shields.

      Nur Misuari was once declared as Governor of the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) during Pres. Fidel V. Ramos Administration. Prior to that, a peace pact was signed between the Ramos Administration and the MNLF Leadership to promote peace and prosperity in Muslim Mindanao. Huge amounts of money was released to Nur Misuari to develop and enhance the whole Region. Billions of pesos was in Nur Misuari’s management and control.

      But after so many years as head of the ARMM, Nur Misuari failed to alleviate the situation in Mindanao; it is still in poverty and full of strife. So Misuari was ousted as ARMM Governor during Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s term. Nur Misuari then tried to wage war on the Philippine Government by again attacking civilian communities and taking hundreds of noncombatants and using them as human shields. The Philippine Government Forces defeated the rebels, captured and arrested Nur Misuari and hauled his ass to jail in the same location where Janet Lim Napoles is now detained.

      So this not the first time that Nur Misuari wreaked havoc in Mindanao. This will also be the second time that he will be defeated, arrested and dragged off to the slammer. Christians and Muslims all over the world all want peace but certain “leaders” use their power to influence and manipulate their followers into their own distorted agendas. Just look at what is happening now in Egypt and Syria.

       Soon Janet Lim Napoles may have a new roommate named Nur Misuari. They may have a few things in common so they could have a really nice conversations to pass away their idle time. Yup, crooks and criminals will never succeed in their evil ways…thank God that He is still watching over us…
