Shootout or Rub out?

Four alleged members of the notorious Dominguez Carjacking Group were killed in a shootout in Meycauyan, Bulacan yesterday. They were caught by police in the act of changing the license plates of their stolen vehicle in a dark and uninhabited road, a practice often used by criminals to avoid police detection. Reports said that when the cops tried to arrest them, the criminals started shooting. Which as always, the cops had to return fire to protect themselves.

Same old story, different title, these cops always say that line when they encounter lawless elements and it ends in a shootout. "We were fired upon first so we had no choice but to fire back to protect ourselves". Ok, let's give them the benefit of the doubt, besides, if these were really notorious carjackers who kill their victims, even burning the bodies to make identification more difficult and not just steal vehicles then I guess the whole world is better off without these scumbags. I say, "Good riddance!"

But let's take a closer look at the incident/news reports. I found a couple of loopholes in the cops' story. If I were the carjacker, wouldn't it be wiser to change the license plates in a place which cops can't just happen to pass by? Let's say in a friend's garage or in a cheap motel with a covered garage? To avoid suspicion and other people spying on your evil deeds, wouldn't it be wiser to change license plates in those places than in uninhabited, dark but open roadsides? I don't know but maybe these carjackers are a couple of dumb and dumber guys.....

It smells of a rub out, I bet they were caught (still alive and kicking, maybe even screaming too) and were brought to a secluded place and were shot at point blank range. How about the bullet holes in the police cars and the carjacked vehicle? That's easy, after shooting the carjackers dead the cops can easily shoot both vehicles using their guns and the weapons of the criminals. Instant shootout! Looks a scene from a Hollywood movie? You bet, cops are big fans of action movies because that's where they get their ideas on how to arrange the dead bodies and the crime scene before calling the reporters to the area. Lol

Am I defending the carjackers? Nope, if they are really the notorious criminals who kill and burn their victims to crisp and not just steal the vehicles, I think they are better off dead. Killed in a shootout or "salvaged" (cop term for extra-judicial killings) it doesn't really matter to me, as long as the cops keep the driving/motoring public safe. So my advice to the cops, can you please think of a different story line next time? Your " We were fired upon first so we had no choice but to fire back." statement to the media is really getting boring and over used. And my advice to the carjackers still out there doing their evil deeds? Find a decent job dudes, stop stealing other people's property! Or else, you'll get "Salvaged" by the coppers too. :)
