Here we go again folks! The Philippines is making waves again in the international scene but it's an achievement that nobody is going to be proud of. The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) made it again as the worst airport in the whole wide world. Travelers all over the globe who happened to pass by or use the NAIA voted it as the most awful in the universe because it is small, crowded, dirty, old, dilapidated and on top of all of these; full of crooked airport police and personnel!
Now that may sound unfair to us Filipinos because of the many honest janitors, taxi cabs and other people that work or ply their trade there that have returned lost wallets, baggage and large amounts of money and jewelry to their rightful owners without asking for anything in return. But we must admit, the good morals and sincere deeds of these Pinoys are easily forgotten by everyone while the scumbags that roam the airport and victimize innocent travelers will be remembered forever.
Let's accept that the NAIA is old, dirty, small and outmoded compared to newer international airports all over the world. But the most awful and dreadful part is the observation and conclusion of most travelers that the NAIA is full of con artists, double-crossers, thieves and extortionists which is the truth by the way. Sure, we have lots of honest Filipinos working there as evidenced by the stories of ordinary janitors returning lost items but we have to accept it guys, the assholes and scumbags really outnumber the good guys 100 to 1.
The Government can renovate or build a better NAIA and easily outclass other international airports and at the same time the Politicians and Public Officials can fill their pockets again from kick-backs and anomalies but the question is whether the airport personnel can abandon their old extorting ways and become honest employees for a change. Dumb question, right? Of course these assholes will never mind their broken ways! Old habits die hard and these crooks are not just sticking to their old habits, its a disease that they have all their lives; its called graft and corruption and its very infectious and incurable!
Hey, just look at our Politicians, they've been in Government service all their lives and up to the moment of their last dying breath they never reformed or changed their evil ways. At the end of their careers they are priming and grooming their wives or mistresses, sons and daughters (legitimate and illegitimate), grand kids (again, legit and not legit) and soon their cats and dogs to take over their political positions!
Yup, the NAIA is the worst airport in the world but that's not the nastiest part. The vilest part is that our Politicians are the nastiest, wickedest and foulest ghouls in the world!!! The NAIA is just a reflection of our Government, it just shows the true character of the people that run our nation. The NAIA is just a building and it can easily be renovated or replaced but the leaders and government personnel of this nation can never be "renovated" to become trustworthy public servants!!!

For 'Around the World in 80 Plates' we got to travel all over, having what was like a cross between a culinary competition and races. And in each country we had a chef Ambassador. We went to London, Barcelona, Bologna, Hong Kong, Thailand, Morocco... It was amazing.
