SSS Senior Citizen Pensioners Suffering from Stopped and Delayed Pensions.

Thousands or hundreds of thousands of Social Security System (SSS) Senior citizen pensioners are now complaining and suffering needlessly of cut-off, stopped and delayed monthly allowances. These elderly people who are at the age of 60, 70, 80 and 90 years old who failed to present themselves to their designated SSS branches or bank branches to show proof that they are still alive and kicking to receive their monthly pension have suddenly ceased receiving their monthly allowances. The SSS made these old, slow, fragile and sickly pensioners to personally report to purge and cleanse the list of retirees and to finally weed out the already deceased or "ghost" members whose crooked relatives or dependents are still claiming their monthly benefits. It was a good idea to get rid of the illegal claimants but the whole operation ended up badly and made thousands of legitimate old people suffer and are now in dire straits.

The SSS issued notices to all its senior citizen pensioners to report to the banks where they regularly get their allowances before August 30, 2012 and the letters were supposed to be delivered by the Philippine Postal Office (PhilPost) . That's where the problem started, that's where the shit hit the fan! You see, the PhilPost did not deliver all of the notices to the specified pensioners; as a matter of fact, hundreds of thousands of SSS pensioners never got their notices. This resulted in the hundreds of thousands of senior citizens that failed to report to their banks and consequently, their pension were stopped by the SSS. These old folks never got their allowances starting August 30. 2012 and up to this moment it is still in limbo. Most of the affected senior citizens immediately reported to the SSS branches while some had to be in wheelchairs and even carried by their close relatives after suffering from strokes, diabetes and for being too old. You can just imagine the hardships that they have to go through. The SSS authorities after examining and finding out that these are the legitimate pensioners, it was promised and assured that their allowances will resume after 1 month of delay.

The SSS guarantee of 1 month delay never materialized and bank officials said that it will take SSS about 3 months before it can reinstate the delayed benefits. These people are old and fragile; they need their allowances to buy their food, medicine and other basic needs. Most of these old folks are not rich, some are in poverty and to deny them their hard earned right is simply criminal! These legitimate, genuine, rightful and alive pensioners have already proven to the SSS that they are still breathing so why the 3 month long delay in restoring their benefits? Delay due to paperwork? That is simply unacceptable!!!

It is not the fault of these pensioners that they did not receive their notices from PhilPost hence it is not their fault why they failed to show up at their banks. It is the PhilPost's duty to deliver these notices come hell or high water and although not all letters can be delivered 100%; hundreds of thousands of undelivered mail is simply unacceptable! Let's face it, SSS and PhilPost screwed up big time and the old folks are the ones needlessly suffering! This is a big blunder for SSS and PhilPost yet no media outfit aired this news or even bothered to help these people get their allowances faster. Are old people in this country indispensable and unimportant? Do we just forget and dump our old parents and grandparents to just wither and die on their own? Don't we all have old folks in our families? Is it okay to treat them this way?

The SSS cannot wash its hands from this gargantuan and highly destructive mistake, the SSS should have engaged the advertising services of all major print, radio and TV media out there. The SSS should have repeatedly aired this notice many months in advance before the August 30, 2012 deadline, it should not have relied solely on PhilPost to do its job in delivering those notices. The SSS should also immediately reinstate the pension of the old folks that have already reported to their offices, it should not take 3 long months to restore it. These people are in their golden years, they don't have much time left hence they should not be treated like garbage. Their pension were the monthly contributions that they gave SSS during their young and productive years, it is through the members' contribution that made SSS work. As long as these people are alive and breathing, nobody has the right to delay, stop or take that pension away from them!!!

  1. My parents' SSS stopped three months ago even though they regularly go to their banks to withdraw their retirement. Is this PNoy's legacy to our seniors? I'm about to go take my parents to SSS this week and I'm already dreading the long lines. Both my parents are sick (Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and Prostate Cancer)...do they have to suffer the long lines? SSS= SUCKING SENIORS SOULS

  2. Same goes here. My mom and several aunts and uncles have also stopped receiving their pension for 3 months.

Maybe you are right, this could be PNoy's way improving our lives; by making our Senior Citizens croak and die from long lines and stopped pensions.

Because Pres. Noynoy belongs to the richest clan in our country it's no wonder that he doesn't feel the pain and sufferings of the poor.

It's all lip service and when they get elected, then all their promises to the voters are forgotten!

  3. The effectiveness of the SSS depends on the Administrator. The system was at its best during the incumbency of Ambassador Jose Cuisia and the late Adrian Cristobal.

Whatever happened to the plan to increase the pension of retirees? Last year pa iyun. The current administrator says “I’d like SSS to be the best government agency in the country in terms of service.” Instead, what we get is a lot of inefficiency.

    1. Sorry for the late reply, sometimes I can't post my comments on this blog. I think it's the attitude of the people in Government that messes things up.

Government workers in the past knew that they are the servants of the people and the persons they serve respected them in return. But those were the good old days when public servants and Government workers were still honest and trustworthy.

Now, all they think about is how to make kickbacks without getting busted and most Government workers now think that they are the boss and that we, the taxpayers are their servants....Thanks for your comment....

  4. My parents told me last night that they went to the bank where they withdraw their sss money every month and were told that the money is not there, there were no explanation or even a reason for that to happen, I went online and search to see if there's any more victims out of this stupid sss mistake and found a lot of people suffering like my own parents...What the hell is going on?? old people don't deserve this treatment, it's very unacceptable that pensioners will just stop receiving their money w/o written notice that is surely delivered to them. Wake up SSS and stop letting old folks suffer for the money that they personaly contribute when they were young and treat them well.

  5. Same thing happened to my mom's pension. The bank never advised us about the SSS stoppage of pensions even if they already knew that a lot of old folks are wondering what happened. Wala silang pakialam sa mga Senior Citizens! Akala mo di din sila tatanda at magiging mga senior citizens in the future...

Good news though because my mom's pension was already restored this 1st week of November after 3 long months of delay!

Did your parents presented or reported to the nearest SSS branch to show that they are still alive and well to receive their allowances? If they have not reported yet to the SSS you better tell them to report ASAP because the SSS will never reinstate their pension if they will not present themselves.

Then after 3 months their SSS pensions will be put back-on... Our Government is really deteriorating instead of improving. They steal our taxes, raise all prices and now they want to delay and probably steal old folks pensions!!!

  6. whew! this is the reason why my mother-in-law's pension stopped. that is unfair, for we idnt receive any letter from SSS.
the problem is, my mother in law is abroad. what can we do? AFP PVAO has better solutions for these.PVAO have forms like proof of life and update forms wherein they can verify if the pensioner is still alive (photo with updated newspaper)
    sana ganito din sa SSS.
    nakakawalang gana naman. hays

    1. Sorry for the late reply, blogger.com went "loco" last week, it can't post my replies.

Better check and have your mom-in-law's pension or else somebody in the SSS might figure out how to claim her money as theirs.

Alam mo naman ang mga nasa Government, magaling sila sa hocus-pocus!

  8. Sorry for the late reply, I tried posting my comment last week but blogger.com can't post it.

Anyway, the SSS has reinstated the pensions last November 1st so if your Grandma haven't received her allowance then you better help her go to the SSS again.

Ala na tayong magagawa sa kapalpakan ng SSS e mga senior citizens ang kawawa. I hope your Grandma gets her pension soon. Thanks for your comment and good luck!

Ala tayong magagawa, nasa Pilipinas tayo e.

  14. Wag na kayung umasa sa SSS na magiging mabait at makatao sila. Just last month, they cut-off hundreds of pensioners again.

This time SSS targeted Senior citizens who are receiving two pensions, one from their own and from their departed spouses.

Kahit nagpresenta na ung pensioner sa SSS at nakita namang buhay pa, na cut-off pa rin ang pension mula sa dead spouses nila.

Isn't that stupid? alam namn nilang iisa lang din ung taong tumatanggap at buhay pa e bakit pa na cut-off?

Pinapahirapan lang talaga niula ang mga matatanda!

    Thanks for all your comments...
