This is another disgraceful and appalling story that will exacerbate the already decayed, rotten image and reputation of the Philippine National Police (PNP). Yup, another nail added to the PNP coffin which is already riddled with thousands of disgraceful "nails" if you ask my opinion. A few days ago, a cop named PO2 Mark Canete was caught by fellow coppers while he was busy smoking crack or shabu inside his car in Quezon City. Canete was in his full PNP blue uniform while he was enjoying his dose of the happy drug.
This pig was not assigned in Quezon City nor was he a resident of Metro Manila. He was just in the Metropolis to fix some official papers in Camp Crame, this was according to him when he was questioned by the arresting team. That was the reason why he was still in full uniform, Canete was reporting at Camp Crame for official business but that was during office hours. When he was caught sucking with gusto on that drug pipe it was already getting dark so maybe Canete thought he was no longer on official business so it's okay to do some monkey business and enjoy a couple of lungfuls of crack!
It was a good thing that other PNP cops caught this asshole red-handed or shall we say "white tongued" and "wide-eyed" which is the typical physical characteristics of a shabu addict after just enjoying their favorite drug. It was also a blessing that Canete was still wearing his uniform when he got nabbed. The more offenses that can be filed against this prick, the better for us all. This crooked cop will finally be dismissed from the PNP and that is great news. Canete will no longer waste taxpayer's money on crack and he will no longer bastardize the PNP and their uniform. The PNP has to work its ass off to get rid of all scalawags in its ranks. That is the only way to improve and make itself efficient and effective against crime fighting in this country.
But before a well-organized, competent and professional Philippine National Police can emerge from the sewage and cesspool that it is now wallowing, the PNP should also clean up its hierarchy and not just the rank and file. If there are thousands of bad, ordinary, low ranking cops out there; chances are, there are also a lot of corrupt PNP Top Brass. Better get rid of the big fish too and not just the small ones.
