Pipe Bomb Materials found inside a Lodge.

Materials for making a pipe bomb were found inside a room in a lodge in Metro Manila a few days ago. Empty shells of ammunition (the gun powder was used as explosives inside the pipe bombs), wires, alarm clocks and cell phone parts were also left behind by the bomb maker. The explosive materials were discovered by the room boy after the tenant checked out the next day. The room boy said the lodger told him that he was from Baguio City and that he needed a room for the night.

The room boy immediately informed the police about the deadly stuff that he found and the cops are now investigating the matter thoroughly. A cartographic sketch of the suspected bomb maker was immediately made and was aired on TV stations to warn the public and to ask the people to report to the police if they happen to see a man looking similar to the artist's drawing.

Although the cops assured the public and advised the citizens to stay calm; that there are no terrorist threats at the moment, the people cannot simply take the authorities assurance without feeling worried. Many months ago a bus plying EDSA was blown up by terrorists and a couple of innocent people died, a hapless woman was even blown in half inside that ill-fated bus. She did not die instantly, she was still begging her fellow passengers to help her get to safety and help her survive. But how can you save someone who's already blown in half by the blast?

As expected, the cops caught no suspects and now that horrific incident is again unsolved. So the public naturally don't believe the cops that everything will be okay and that terrorists will never strike again soon. When it comes to police work, never trust the Philippine National Police (PNP) to get things right. But when it comes to kickbacks, shady million to billion peso deals, botched-up hostage rescues and human rights violations; the PNP always shines....
