Numerous Government Websites Hacked Due to Anti-Cyber Crime Law.

A couple of official government websites of the Philippines were hacked a few days ago in protest of the newly enacted Anti-Cyber Crime Law. The website of the Central Bank of the Philippines (CB) was the first to go and more followed the next day. The websites of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the Department of Health (DoH) were also hacked to name a few. The highly skilled computer geeks said it was done to protest the repressive, tyrannical and dictatorial aspect of the Anti-Cyber Crime Law which prohibits and punishes the exercise of the freedom of speech and expression.

The Anti-Cyber Crime Law was enacted to protect the population from various crimes and abuses committed in the Internet. Crimes like sexual exploitation of women and minors, cyber-bullying and cyber-fraud. It was a good law but some asshole lawmaker/s and politician/s decided to add a repressive and dictatorial provision. Anyone who comments or writes anything about a person which is not enjoyable, agreeable, pleasant and lovely to the subject can now sue your ass and you can be hauled in jail for libel and face a stiff penalty.

The lawmakers said that the particular part of the bill which severely punishes libel was included to protect the innocent from malicious and libelous statements in the Internet. Now, that pissed off a lot of Internet users and that includes me. Why? The answer is simple, because it stinks of CENSORSHIP, SUPPRESSION AND EXPURGATION. In a country like the Philippines where Martial Law was enforced by an asshole dictator named Ferdinand Marcos Sr. for more than 20 years, where thousands of people were arrested without any warrants, jailed, beaten, raped, tortured and killed; the Filipinos cannot be blamed for being over-protective of their freedom.

The lawmakers included the provision which harshly punishes libelous statements to curb and halt anyone from exposing their graft and corrupt practices. SEE NO EVIL, HEAR NO EVIL, SPEAK NO EVIL; that is what they want the public to do. SHUT YOUR PIE HOLE OR WE WILL HAUL YOUR ASS IN JAIL!!! That is the sole purpose of that provision so that these assholes can do what they want without limitations. They can LIE, CHEAT, STEAL AND KILL without any fear of being exposed, criticized or reprimanded by the populace which they are supposed to protect and serve.

The decent lawmakers, if they still exist in our part of the world should immediately remove or amend that flaw. Libelous statements should only apply against persons that besmirch the reputation of private citizens and exclude those that work in Government. Politicians and Government workers should always be under public scrutiny to prevent any anomalies; this is of extreme importance in a graft infested country like the Philippines.

Everyone who value and appreciate freedom of speech and expression should demand for the immediate amendment of the oppressive and authoritarian provision of the Anti-Cyber Crime Law. Let us all support and salute those who expressed their love for the freedom from oppression. Never let these leaders to once again rule us with an Iron Fist and hold us Filipinos by our balls just like what that prick Ferdinand Marcos Sr. did when he imposed Martial Law. Never, never again!!!
