Pope Benedict XVI Resigns.

The news caught everyone by surprise. Nobody thought that a Pope can resign from his duties as head of the Catholic Church. Everybody thought, at least I believed that the Pope has to perform his duties and official function as the Top Gun of the Catholic Church until the day that he dies. I guess, I'm wrong...

The news reports said that Pope Benedict XVI is resigning due to weakness brought about by old age and heart disease  The Pope has been on a pacemaker since he was still a Bishop so he obviously has weak and defective heart. He is lucky, surviving a heart ailment and living for more than 80 years old is not bad at all.

The Pontiff has announced that his duty ends on the 28th of February and the Catholic Church will have to find a new leader. Okay, let's give the old man a break. I think the Holy Father deserves some quality time before he expires. A couple of local television networks hinted that Cardinal Tagle may have a chance in being elected as the next Pope but that is really dumb and stupid.

Cardinal Tagle is too young and lacks the experience to become the highest leader of the Church. Besides, electing or choosing a Pope is like electing a President of a powerful nation; the candidate must have the right connections and supporters inside the Catholic Hierarchy to win the Top Post. It is a lot similar to Politics so never believe that religious organizations are guided and governed by God, Jesus Christ or by the Holy Spirit.

It's usually controlled, regulated and manipulated by ordinary mortals who are usually motivated by greed, power and self-interest. Just look at Jesus Christ; He preached in poverty, lived in simplicity and humbleness. Jesus never dressed in the best garments, never lived in the grandest mansions, never ate and drank the best food and wine. Heck, Jesus can't even afford to buy and ride his own horse so He's happy to sit on a donkey!

But take a close look at most if not all of the religious leaders all over the world. They keep on building the most expensive and biggest churches and temples. Their leaders dress up in the best garments that money can buy. Most religious kingpins are pampered and well taken cared of by his followers. No religious leader these days would like to live in poverty and simplicity like Jesus did. This may not sound good but everything is all about money, power and greed....
