A thief was trapped for 2 days inside the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) building. A dumb ass named Hilbert Moncano, 21 years old; sneaked into the edifice in search of valuable objects to steal. He used an open air-conditioning slot on the ground floor and casually made his way up to the MMDA Chairman's Office. It was Saturday morning so the whole area was deserted.
Moncano apparently enjoyed his stay at the MMDA that he decided to spend the whole weekend inside. He entered all the offices from the ground floor all the way up to the penthouse. Lol. Hell, this burglar even took a bath in one of the several bathrooms in the building and slept in one of the plush sofas found in MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino's office! I bet he even turned on the cooling system and watched cable TV to make his stay as pleasant as possible! Too bad he couldn't order any fast food and drinks to enjoy his weekend vacation!
But his luck ran out when it was time for him to leave the premises come Sunday afternoon. As he was about to leave the building via the air-conditioning hole that he entered in the ground floor, he discovered that the hole-in-the-wall is no longer open! It was plugged and boarded shut by the roaming guards of the MMDA! Imagine the surprise, dismay and fear that this asshole may have felt when he realized that he was trapped inside!!! The poor SOB probably shit pants! Well, the whole place had a lot of bathrooms so he almost certainly cleaned himself up.
It turned out that the guards roaming the exterior of the building noticed the open hole in the wall and quickly barricaded it to prevent any robber from entering. The security guards didn't notice that there was already a crook inside the building so they never searched the interiors. I guess they were confident enough that no one can easily get in or get out of that office. Lol.
Moncano was later arrested the next Monday when MMDA personnel started coming to work after a weekend break and found a trapped burglar inside their building. The culprit tried to weasel his way out of trouble but the security guards and the MMDA Chairman didn't believe his story. They found cellphones, clothes, loose coins and lots of identification cards with his picture but with different names. The fake ID's did him in and he was immediately hauled to the nearest jail cell.
This Filipino "Houdini" is now behind bars. I hope he stays there for good....
