Have you heard or watched the latest news about the HIV/AIDS infection rate in our country? Well, if you haven't then you better read on. Latest findings show that more and more young Filipinos are getting infected everyday, more than 10 Pinoys are getting the HIV/AIDS virus each passing day. 10 Pinoys a day! Now that is a little scary but wait till you read this, health experts say that this number will keep on going up each year and if uncontrolled, it can spread like wildfire!
The specialists blame the Filipino's attitude about using condoms (no thanks to the Philippine Catholic Church which keeps on fighting the use of condoms and other contraceptives! The Pope have already approved the use of condoms to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS) and the aggressive sexual behavior of the young Pinoys. Yup, the young generation is getting hornier and hornier but they are also reckless and dumb. Most sexually active young Filipinos are at risk of getting infected according to the report because they don't practice safe sex.
The Government should exert more effort in pushing through with the Reproductive Health Bill (RH Bill) and the youth should be taught how to protect themselves from being infected from this deadly virus. Condoms should be distributed freely by the Government and not only during Valentine's Day. More information about the prevention of the HIV/AIDS contagion should be aired in all TV, Radio and print media. It's been done before, a health secretary during the Pres. Fidel V. Ramos administration encouraged the use of condoms and it effectively stopped the spread of HIV/AIDS in our country.
Sure, the priests are going to be pissed but who gives a shit? It's not them who's going to get infected with the deadly virus so they should not interfere with the Government's health programs. What good is the next generation if they are all dying with the deadly disease? I do agree that the Catholic Church should teach the people to be moral and decent but please let the Government Health Agencies do their work in preventing the spread of deadly diseases.
