M/V Josille Sinks in El Nido, Palawan.

A large passenger boat sunk in El Nido, Palawan a few days ago due to typhoon Butchoy. 3 people were feared dead and the Philippine Coast Guard is searching for their remains despite the bad weather. The last news report said that 2 bodies were already recovered off the island of Cullion, Palawan which was more than 170 miles off the area where the passenger vessel sunk. 1 missing victim, a baby is still to be found.

The Coast Guard said the engine of the ill-fated M/V Josille also got detached from its engine room  and they have to find it to remove the oil and fuel inside to prevent it from polluting the sea. That's not going to be an easy job; they have wide area of violent sea to search for a damn missing engine. It's worse than than the famous quote "looking for a needle in a haystack".

It's really the fault of the vessel owner or its Captain and the Coast Guard for letting the ship travel the sea even if there's a weather disturbance approaching the area. The passengers are not to be blamed, these folks just want go home and the correct decision to sail or not to sail is always at the hands of the Captain and the Coast Guard authorities.

Every time a marine disaster hits the Philippines, it's always the skipper who's at fault. It's like riding a bus in EDSA, if the vehicle gets into an accident it's always the driver who is at fault; never the conductor, the passengers or the bus itself. Even if the bus suffered defective brakes or faulty steering, the driver is always to be blamed.

Why? Because a bus or a sea vessel is just a machine which is being controlled and operated by a human being , therefore it is the ship's captain or the bus driver's duty to make sure his rig is in tip-top shape to assure nothing bad will ever happen to his passengers. How about the bad weather? Well, the captain  could always wait for the typhoon to take its course before sailing.

The dumb ass skipper shouldn't have tried to outrun a damn typhoon. He's nothing but a dickhead if you ask my opinion.

  1. PCG, Provincial Veterinarian, Provincial Legal Officer, BAI marketing Division, DENR, Presidential Action Center, Quarantine Officer, were all informed by the illegality of the overloading of cattle on such vessels.

  2. I know but in our country nobody obeys the rules, even the lawmakers and authorities who are tasked to implement the laws are the ones who violate it.

    Thanks for your comment.
