Bloody Robinson's Galleria Hold Up!

This story was almost like a scene from a Hollywood action flick, except this one is for real. Yup, real guns blazing, real bullets flying all over the place and real hand grenades exploding outside the Robinson's Galleria Mall. A scene almost surreal except that it left 1 security guard dead and 3 others wounded. Everything was caught on the mall's CCTV and it showed the preciseness, quickness and deadliness of the suspects. What a bloody, bloody mess!

A robbery-hold up in broad daylight inside a busy mall in Metro Manila. 3 unidentified suspects managed to enter the shopping center carrying assorted high-powered firearms without the shop's security guards detecting them. The weapons; shotguns, assault rifles and handguns were disassembled and were hidden inside plastic shopping bags and were sneaked inside the building. I've always noticed that the guards inspecting the people and their luggage entering the malls are not really that strict. Hell, I bet they don't even know what they are supposed to look for in the first place. Do the guards know how to look for gun or bomb parts if it was broken down to many pieces and then to be reassembled later on inside the mall?

The baddies were planning to rob a money-changer shop inside the mall and although the shop owner declined to report how much money he lost, the cops said more than Php2Million was taken. Not bad for a couple of minutes worth of work huh? According to Police, 3 more suspects were acting as back-ups and look-outs outside the mall and that they are the ones that exploded the 2 grenades to deter any wanna-be heroes from tailing them or engaging them in a firefight. As usual, the cops were too late to respond to the crime scene hence, there was nobody to left to engage in a shoot-out, to arrest or to detain. What a bunch of slow poke cops!

It's always like this in the Philippines; criminals are always out-gunning, out-running, out-maneuvering and out-thinking the coppers. Sometimes it's making me suspicious that these bank robbers and hold uppers are in cahoots with the authorities. Now that may not be a farfetched skepticism, everything is possible in the Philippines. So don't be surprised if the gunmen are former cops or military men, heck, they could still be in active duty who just went out moonlighting to earn an extra Php2Million in less than half a days work! Only in the Philippines, dude, only in the Philippines!
