A veteran news reporter recently visited the famous Puerto Galera Beach in Oriental Mindoro. This was the first world class beach in the Philippines (according to the report) that got famous all over the world before Boracay Island was discovered and took over the spotlight. Although Boracay Island is now the main tourist destination and most beach lovers all over the world prefer going there, a lot of people still go to Puerto Galera for its beautiful beaches.
But the veteran reporter was not on that beach to enjoy the scenery and the world class resorts in that area. He was there to investigate stories of environmental destruction being done by the beach resort owners and the lack of interest of the local government authorities to prevent such damage. He got his eyes set on something else and it's definitely not on the pretty girls in their bikinis, although he could have sneaked a glance or two; but it's okay if he did because he's a widower. :)))
So to find out what was wrong with the location, the news reporter asked the locals where the problem was and by using his nose....he easily found the source of the forthcoming environmental damage. The raw sewage that is being generated by the numerous beach resorts is being carelessly dumped into the sea, untreated of course. Yup, better get hold of this; raw sewage is being deliberately discarded into the beach! Son of a Beach!!! :)
The reporter couldn't believe what his eyes saw, but I bet his nose pretty much confirmed it. There was a small shallow "creek" that runs from the various beach resorts and it slowly snakes its way down to the seashore. During low tide the creek is stagnant but when high tide comes......the filthy concoction goes out to the sea and into the beautiful beach where the tourists joyfully, merrily and happily take a swim! Wow! Do still have your last meal inside your stomach after reading this? My, my, you gotta gut made from stainless steel dude!
So this reporter asked the resort owners what is wrong with them, dumping their raw sewage on that creek and the owners understandably said "it wasn't me!" and pointed to the larger and more expensive resorts as the culprits. The reporter then went to the Town Mayor regarding the stinking problem but the Mayor wasn't able to directly address the situation nor was he able to provide an immediate solution to stop the environmental destruction. Although he was quite fast in issuing building permits to those who constructed huge beach resorts that were blamed in polluting the area, even without the necessary Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
But the Mayor still insisted that Puerto Galera is still a world class beach destination. Yeah, a world class beach that's full of shit! Barf!!! Another sewage pipe was discovered by this veteran reporter (my, this guy is really nosy huh? :) and this time he interviewed the Barangay Captain (neighborhood leader) in that area why the raw sewage is made to drain out into the sea and the local official was shocked to be asked with such a stupid question. Where should they drain it to then if not on the sea? Again he was asked how the local government should prevent the waste from polluting the beach and the bright and genius Barangay Captain said that they should make the drainage pipe longer and deeper so that the waste will flow far out and deep into the ocean and not on the beach!
Pretty clever solution for such a stupid guy eh? Now you see it, now you don't. Well, if you can't see, smell, notice or know about it then it doesn't exist, right? Yeah! I love this guy! He's got all the best solution to all our problems. Maybe we should make him our next President! Now you know why our country is going to the dogs. Because most if not all of our elected officials are like these guys, the Puerto Galera Mayor and the Barangay Captain; they are not only corrupt and greedy, they are also very, very stupid. Pure 100% Morons!
Puerto Galera would soon end up like a giant cesspool and all the marine life will die. Just like the Pasig River where instead of fish swimming in its waters, you see lots and lots of ....disposable diapers! And the smell? Nah, you don't want me to go that far, unless you want to puke your guts out. Even an iron stomach won't help you keep your last meal inside your gut. Besides, I just had my lunch so I wanna keep it in my belly too okay? So let's skip the smell part. :)
