The Supreme Court of the Philippines has issued the final order to distribute the land of Hacienda Luisita to its deserving farmers. The farmers who have been toiling the more than 6,000 hectares (14,825 acres) of land for many generations have reason to celebrate this decision and celebrate they did! The Hacienda Luisita was originally owned by the Spaniards and was later on bought by the Cojuangco family, the family of Pres. Noynoy Aquino.
Incidentally, the Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona who is now under siege after Pres. Aquino and his Congressmen buddies filed an Impeachment Trial against the Top Magistrate to kick his ass out of the Supreme Court. Allegedly due to ill-gotten wealth and various offenses committed against the Filipino People. The Solons/Prosecutors said they wanted to protect the Philippine Constitution and the Filipino People from corrupt officials like Corona. Sounds valid as well as very Nationalistic and Patriotic, don't you think? Nah, don't let these buggers fool you! It's all because of self interest and greed.
Anyway, I have always believed from the get go that Pres. Noynoy Aquino and his Solon buddies filed the Impeachment so that they can kick Corona out and replace him with a new, President-anointed Chief Justice who will reverse the previous Supreme Court decision to distribute the Hacienda Luisita to the farmers. I still think that way up to this moment although I do support Corona's ouster because of one simple reason, he's a LYING, CHEATING and STEALING SCOUNDREL and therefore he doesn't deserve nor does he have the right to sit as the highest Judge of the Land!
Now the gloves are off. Pres. Aquino and Chief Justice Corona will really get down to a dirty boxing match. Let's see if Pres. Aquino will accept and implement the Supreme Court decision or will he continue to defy the order and choose not to involve himself with the issue? The President is bound by the Constitution to implement the law so if he decides not to do it or is wishy-washy about it, then the whole damn world will know that he is nothing but a weak and greedy leader.
I have always believed that the Hacienda Luisita and all other haciendas or large farm estates should be distributed to the farmers. Nobody should be above the law, period. I remember the days when landowners who owned smaller farmlands were forced by the Government to sell their property so that it could be distributed to the farmers tilling it. All over the country, landowners who possessed lesser areas have lost their ownership due to the Land Reform Bill but the vast Haciendas owned by the rich managed to deflect that law.
I guess you can easily do that when you're rich and powerful in this country. The weaker and smaller ones are usually the first ones to go....When Pres. Cory Aquino kicked Pres. Ferdinand Marcos' ass out of Malacanang 26 years ago, the Hacienda Luisita also remained intact in the Cojuangco family. It was never distributed to the farmers during Pres. Cory's term. Didn't somebody want her to become a SAINT after she died a couple years back? Hell, that would have created a fit among the farmers!
The Hacienda Luisita farmers did try to ask Pres. Cory Aquino to distribute the land and they even tried to march all the way to Malacanang to make their point but they only got as far as Mendiola Bridge. That was where it got really bloody and gory. The farmers were gunned down in cold blood with machine guns by the military as if they were nothing but a bunch of sewer rats. A lot of poor people died on that bridge....It was a very dismal and heartbreaking day for our country; it was later called the Mendiola Bridge Massacre......
YES, I FIRMLY BELIEVE THAT THE HACIENDA LUISITA AND ALL OTHER REMAINING VAST FARMING ESTATES IN THE COUNTRY CONTROLLED AND OWNED BY RICH FAMILIES SHOULD BE GIVEN TO THE DESERVING FARMERS. YES, I AGREE THAT CHIEF JUSTICE RENATO CORONA SHOULD BE IMPEACHED AND REMOVED FROM OFFICE BECAUSE HE IS NOTHING BUT A SCOUNDREL IN A MAGISTRATE'S ROBE. YES, PRESIDENT NOYNOY AQUINO MUST ABIDE BY THE SUPREME COURT DECISION ON THE HACIENDA LUISITA REGARDLESS OF THE OUTCOME OF THE IMPEACHMENT TRIAL.
This is the most crucial test to Pres. Noynoy Aquino's promise to help the Filipino People, his leadership, his decency, his morality, his humanity is at stake here.....because if he doesn't do the right thing and give away the land to the farmers as it should have been 25 long years ago...then it will only prove one thing to the world...that he's just another ASSHOLE POLITICIAN JUST LIKE ALL THE LEADERS NOW IN OUR COUNTRY!
