Belgian Tourist Conned by Ativan Gang!

A Belgian tourist named Dr. Lilianne Van Haeren was sight-seeing in Malate, Manila when 2 nice Filipina women befriended her. They asked her if she was alone and that if she wanted to visit more places in our country, particularly up North. They offered their services as tourist guides and said that she will only spend Php10,000 for a 10-day trip. She immediately fell for their charming character and of course, because of the cheapest 10-day tour of the Philippines.

So the Filipino con men and women took this Belgian tourist to Dagupan City, Baguio City and to the Banawe Rice Terraces. I bet the poor tourist was having so much fun with her newly found friends until the time they stayed at a hotel in Cabanatuan City. There she woke up late with a throbbing headache and she later found out that her EU$15,000 or Php1 Million was gone from her pouch. Now losing that much cash will surely give anybody a hell of a headache!

Heck, the 6 culprits even had the funny idea of replacing her EU$ with cut up pieces of newspaper. Before leaving the tourist behind, the dumb ass con artists erased their pictures from her camera to avoid getting caught by the Police. It was a good thing that a photo center was able to restore the deleted images so now the stupid thieves  have their own "Most Wanted" posters pasted on every wall in the country. The Belgian was still lucky that she run in with these stupid con artists who could have easily stolen her camera rather just deleting the pictures.

The Belgian tourist is busy touring the country not to sight-see but to post the Most Wanted posters of her scumbag buddies that made a fool out of her. Police said it was the "Ativan Gang" who conned her. The group often gains the trust of their victims by pretending to be kind and helpful and then drugging them later with "Ativan" to put the victim into a deep sleep.

Well, not all Filipinos are con artists but please don't be too trusting to strangers who seem to be too kind and helpful to you. To put it bluntly, "Don't be so stupid because you'll get yourself into deep shit!"

  2. Thanks for the comment and for your article about the drugs used by these con artists. It's the criminals that give our country a bad rep all over the world. One bad act can easily wipe out all the good deeds that honest people have made in our society.

  3. During my enforced stay in Manila, I had met many, many nice people. But, sad to say, I strongly believe that the bad people far outweigh the good people. The good people are well worth meeting and knowing. But, how do you tell the difference between a very nice scumbag and a very nice honest person? As the woman from Singapore airlines said, ït's those kind of rubbish people who make it bad for this country and the good people. The Philippines survives on the tourists and this is what those are doing, giving the tourists a very bad reason not to come here.

  4. Sorry for the late reply, a bug on this website kept me from posting my messages for many months. Yes, I agree that more bad people are all over the Metro than the good ones.

We have snatchers, robbers, con-men, crooked cops and other scumbags. But we have also honest cabbies, decent janitors and God-fearing people who return lost bags and wallets that are full of money to their foreign owners.

I guess it's the economic depression that pushes some persons to become scumbags. But in well developed countries, you have muggers, drug addicts and criminals too.

So I guess there is no perfect place in this planet. Thanks for your comment and sorry for the late reply.
