All Cracked Up?

Mount Kanlaon, an active volcano found in Negros Oriental showed cracks and fissures on its top after the 6.9 quake. Geologists and mountaineers  were bit bothered by these physical changes on the volcano and have temporarily suspended any climbing activities in the area. The unpredictable volcano's  last eruption was in 1996 and it resulted in the death of 3 mountaineers ascending it.

Scientists are still unsure if the quake may have triggered any activity deep inside the volcano and they are now conducting a series of tests to get more data. A nearby spring which was a regular source of drinking water for residents for many years have suddenly turned muddy after the quake which worried locals  but experts say i was a natural effect of the tremor.

The last thing the local population needs is a volcanic eruption after that 6.9 quake to mess up their lives again. The people have not yet fully recovered from it so they better hope and pray that Mt. Kanlaon stays asleep for at least a couple of years more.....
