LPG for Jeepneys?

Jeepney drivers and various public transport groups recently urged the Government to help them convert their diesel fed engines to use LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) or cooking gas for fuel. The public transport sector said that this move will help them save more from fuel costs and therefore increase their daily earnings. They have been clamoring the Government for so long but so far, it's not responding.

I can't blame these public transport groups for desperately trying to find cheaper means of fueling their old trusted metal steeds. Like most of us, they have mouths to feed but they must also understand and accept the harsh realities of life. The Government is not keen on financially helping them to convert their vehicles to LPG because cooking/heating gas also comes from oil and if it comes from oil then it is also subject to the rising world oil prices. Sure it's a little bit cheaper than diesel and gasoline but it's still from the same source so no permanent relief is to be expected from it.

I think he best solution is to slowly but gradually shift all public and private vehicles into electric power. Totally on electric/battery power and not some fuel and electric power hybrid vehicle. We should totally disregard any vehicle that uses fossil fuel as a source of energy. That is the only way so we would not be so dependent on  oil and therefore we wouldn't be affected so much if the world oil prices go up uncontrollably.

I know it not going to be easy or cheap converting vehicles to use pure electric power or if the old vehicles have to be junked and totally replaced but it's the only logical solution to end the oil crisis. Besides, the world's oil supply is almost used up so it's going to get more expensive and exorbitant in the future. So instead of being dependent forever to these oil producing countries, let's start using clean, safe alternative and renewable sources of power like the wind, solar, water and electricity. It will also help us and Mother Nature because it's less pollutant to the environment. It may even reverse and prevent the effects of Global Warming. But ABSOLUTELY NO NUKES!!! Okay? Because that's going to fry us all to a crisp if a nuclear incident happens.
